Greater Jakarta: Regency disburses Rp 109 billion for villages

B

anten'€™s Tangerang regency has disbursed Rp 109 billion (US$8.38 million) in grants and budget funding for villages in the 2015 regency budget.

Secretary of the regency, Iskandar Mirsyad said the grants, which would be used by 246 villages in 29 districts, had come from the regency'€™s tax revenues and fees approved by the councilors.

'€œAround 60 percent of the funding must be allocated for village employees, while the remaining should be dedicated to development,'€ Iskandar said on Thursday as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said the fund would also cover spending for village-head elections that will be held simultaneously in 78 villages on June 14.

Mirsyad said the fund disbursement was based on Law No. 6/2014 on villages.

'€œThe fund allocation will not be the same for each village, as it will be adjusted according to population and area size,'€ he said.
