"We have disbursed Rp 6.3 trillion (US$486.60 million) as of Thursday afternoon, or some 76.8 percent of the total Rp 9.8 trillion," Khofifah said in Amir Hamzah Park, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.
More funds had been disbursed as of Saturday afternoon, increasing the figure to 77.88 percent, or Rp 6.86 trillion, according to real-time data on the program website.
The PSKS program was launched as a way to offset the economic effects of the government's decision to abolish subsidies for Premium gasoline.
Khofifah called on all regional heads to supervise the distribution of the funds.
"Some of the funds are being distributed today [Saturday]. I ask regional heads to supervise the disbursement," she said
'If they [poor families] need Rp 600,000, then they should receive Rp 600,000.'
A poor household is entitled to Rp 200,000 a month paid every three months through state-owned postal firm PT Pos Indonesia.
There are about 28.88 million poor households across the country who are eligible for the funds. (fsu/nvn)(+++)
