lawyer accompanying Nigerian death row inmate Raheem Agbaje Salami said in Cilacap, Central Java, on Saturday night that the execution of 10 death row inmates, including Salami, would be conducted on Tuesday.
'Like the first round, the executions will be conducted on a Tuesday,' said lawyer Utomo Karim after accompanying his client to receive notification of his execution from the prosecutor at Besi prison on Nusakambangan Island.
As quoted by tribunnews.com, Utomo said all 10 death row inmates were notified one by one about their execution.
'I saw Rodrigo Gularte protest. He rejected the news. I am not his lawyer; I saw him from a distance,' he said, adding that at the time, seven death row inmates had been notified of their impending execution.
Separately, Attorney General Prasetyo said in Jakarta on Saturday that his side would carry out the executions as soon as possible because all preparations had been made.
'The sooner the better,' he said, adding that the execution date had yet to be set. (rms)(++++)
