Former Karawang regent Ade Swara (left, photo below) and his wife, Nurlatifah, listen as a judge reads out their sentences at the Corruption Court in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday. Ade and Nurlatifah took advantage of their authority and suspended a spatial-planning permit, attempting to extort Rp 9.92 billion (US$769,000).
Ade was sentenced to six years and a fine of Rp 400 million. His wife was sentenced to five years and a fine of Rp 300 million. The court confiscated their assets.

Corrupt officials are more of a burden to Indonesia than drug dealers. Perhaps the death sentence will change a few minds?

The average Indonesian wage-earner is really suffering. It is impossible for them to get by, even up to the middle of the month.
Inflation is so rampant that prices are changing every month or so. Where will all this go?

If Indonesia is not prepared to hand down death sentences for corruption convicts, than it should seize all their assets and make them poor to make an example of what happens if you steal from people.

More corruption, where will it end? President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and his government, instead of worrying about banning alcohol, please put your energy into fixing the water, health, education and standard of living, the normal things governments, or I should say good governments, do.
