he Transjakarta Corridor 1 bus shelter at the Jakarta Police Headquarters on Jl. Sudirman in South Jakarta will close for a month from Monday until May 25 to allow for construction of an MRT station.
Project operator PT MRT will prepare the ground for 150-volt electricity cables related to the station's construction in front of Istora Senayan.
The electricity cables will cross from west to east at a depth of 6 meters around the construction area.
'The construction needs extra space that includes the Transjakarta bus lane, so the Transjakarta buses will share the regular lane with other vehicles,' PT MRT Public Relation officer Bayu Anindito said in a statement on Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.
Bayu added that the previous three fast lanes in the area would be merged to only two during the electricity construction work. The street in front of the Jakarta Police Headquarters will consist of two fast lanes, two slow lanes and one mixed lane.
He said there would also be additional construction work at Dukuh Atas and the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle, but this would not affect the number of road lanes.
