he National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) searched the office of councilor Abraham "Lulung" Lunggana at the City Council (DPRD) building in Central Jakarta on Monday in connection with a case of suspected graft relating to the procurement of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices.
Lulung, who from 2009 to 2014 was coordinator of City Council Commission E on welfare, was not present during the search. The entrepreneur, whose office is on the building's ninth floor, is currently deputy chairman of the City Council and a member of the United Development Party (PPP) faction.
Bareskrim officers also searched Commission E's meeting room on the building's first floor. Police lines were put up at the room's entrance.
Several members of Commission E and a number of city officials are suspected to have conspired in the mark-up of UPS procurement in the 2014 budget. (++++)
