he National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) searched the office of councilor Abraham "Lulung" Lunggana at the City Council (DPRD) building in Central Jakarta on Monday in connection with a case of suspected graft relating to the procurement of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices.

Lulung, who from 2009 to 2014 was coordinator of City Council Commission E on welfare, was not present during the search. The entrepreneur, whose office is on the building'€™s ninth floor, is currently deputy chairman of the City Council and a member of the United Development Party (PPP) faction.

Bareskrim officers also searched Commission E'€™s meeting room on the building's first floor. Police lines were put up at the room's entrance.

Several members of Commission E and a number of city officials are suspected to have conspired in the mark-up of UPS procurement in the 2014 budget. (++++)
