land dispute between palm oil companies PT Budi Murni Panca Jaya (BMPJ) and PT Agro Mitra Rokan (AMR) has implicated Rokan Hulu Regent Ahmad as a suspect, as he is believed to have provoked a third party to harvest oil palm on the disputed land.
Riau Police chief Brig. Gen. Dolly Bambang Hermawan confirmed that investigators had raised Ahmad's status from witness in the case of oil palm theft, to suspect.
'We have sent him a summons and he is scheduled to be questioned on April 30,' Bambang told journalists.
According to him, Ahmad, who also serves as Riau Democratic Party provincial executive board chairman, allegedly asked, or incited other people to jointly commit theft in an oil palm plantation located in Kepenuhan district, Rokan Hulu regency.
