he House of Representatives' Legislation Body (Baleg) deputy chairman Firman Subagyo has proposed that the recess period for lawmakers be cut in order to reach the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) target.
'The recess period should be shortened. For instance, a one-month recess period could be cut to two weeks,' he said on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Firman, who is a Golkar Party politician, said the DPR should be fully aware of the target of deliberating the bills that had been set out in the Prolegnas.
'To meet the target, we should allocate specific time for bill deliberation,' he said.
The Baleg has included 159 bills in the 2015-2019 Prolegnas, with 37 bills on the priority deliberation list. Lawmakers have set their target of completing deliberation by December.
Firman added that there was no need for a specific regulation to realize the suggestion, adding that reaching an agreement in the Consultative Body (Bamus) would be enough.
