he legal team for Divine Production, the organizer of a controversial "bikini party", has claimed that students of schools mentioned in the invitation, took part in the ticket sales.
"We had an agreement with the students. [...] We can show the proof," Andreas Nahot Silitonga, accompanying the event organizer, said on Tuesday during their meeting with the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI).
He said that was the reason why the schools' names were mentioned in the invitation. He admitted that the event organizer had not cooperated or coordinated with the schools in organizing the event.
The event organizer, which is being held responsible for the "bikini party" commercial event known as 'Splash After Class,'claims it invited only students who had already finished their high school final exams to attend the party and the invitation was distributed through social media.
The event was then cancelled following protests from government officials and the public.
Sixteen senior high schools in Greater Jakarta were mentioned as supporters of the event but most denied they had any role in the event.
Andreas said that even though the tickets were available in schools, the event was open only to those who were over 18 years old.
"In all of our promotional media, we stated that the event targeted students who are above 18 years old. We would have rejected underage kids," he said, adding that he was aware of the law on pornography and child protection.
The organizer also claimed to have apologized to the schools.
One of the schools, SMA Muhammadiyah 11, reported the event organizer to the Jakarta Police on Monday for defamation. (fsu)(+++)
