he bodies of eight death-row inmates who were executed by firing squad on Tunggal Panaluan field on Nusakambangan Island, off Cilacap, in Central Java at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday and their corpses have been transported off the island.
Antara reported from Cilacap on Wednesday that five hearses carrying five coffins left the island at 4:50 a.m. West Indonesian Time. Three more hearses later followed.
The first five hearses transported the bodies of Myuran Sukumaran, Andrew Chan, Martin Anderson, Sylvester Obiekwe Nwaolise and Rodrigo Gularte, while the latter three hearses transported the bodies of Agbaje Salami, Okwudili Oyatanze and Zainal Abidin.
The bodies of Sukumaran and Chan headed for Jakarta, from where they will be flown to Australia.
The remains of Anderson will be transported to Bekasi, West Java, for burial while Nwaolise will be taken to the morgue at Cikini General Hospital in Central Jakarta before being transported to Nigeria. Gularte's body will be transported to the morgue at Saint Carolus Hospital in Central Jakarta before being flown to Brazil. (rms)
