JAKARTA: Governor Basuki âAhokâ Tjahaja Purnama has said the administration will begin the long-awaited revitalization of public transportation on June 5
AKARTA: Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama has said the administration will begin the long-awaited revitalization of public transportation on June 5.
Under the revitalization program, he said, all modes of road-based public transportation, such as minivans and the Kopaja and Metro Mini minibuses, would be managed under city owned bus operator PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta).
'The revitalization will begin on June 6. Many operators have agreed. The revitalization will benefit the operators because Transjakarta will pay them per kilometer so drivers will not need to ngetem,' Ahok told reporters at City Hall on Thursday, referring to the drivers' habit of waiting for passengers in certain areas for long periods to get more money.
