ealth Minister Nila Moeloek urged cosmetics companies on Tuesday to utilize a larger proportion of the country's abundant natural resources to help boost the growth of the cosmetics industry in the framework of the launch of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
"We have such rich biodiversity. Why don't we use it?" she said on the sidelines of an ASEAN Cosmetics Leaders Forum on Tuesday, citing as examples the use of seaweed and virgin coconut oil in cosmetics.
She also highlighted the importance of cosmetics industry players in ASEAN countries to cooperate together and formulate common regulations in order to compete in the international cosmetics market. (fsu/hhr)
