'We call on all sides, including tribal leaders, religious leaders and women, to welcome the visit of the President and his entourage this week,' Papua provincial Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Patrige said in Jayapura on Wednesday.
He said that besides making a working visit, the President wanted to fulfill his promise to expedite development programs in all fields and to come closer to the people in the province.
'Based on information we received, the President will also attend ground-breaking ceremonies to mark the start of a number of development projects in the province,' he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
He said the police would approach all church leaders, including those criticizing the security approach in the province, to make the presidential visit a success. (rms)
