he Indonesian Police Watch (IPW) announced Thursday that the National Police might make several changes in its institution, including the rotation of high-ranking officers and improvements in several divisions.
'The effort is meant to restructure the police institution under the leadership of the newly chosen National Police chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti and deputy police chief Gen. Budi Gunawan following the conflict between the police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK),' IPW coordinator Neta S Pane said in Jakarta.
Based on information obtained by the IPW, strategic positions within the institution will be secured by high-ranking police officers who were in the police academy between 1982 and 1985.
'We hope the officers taking the new positions will be those who are capable, professional and have integrity,' Neta said.
Besides switching the positions of several high-ranking officers, IPW revealed that the police were also planning to improve several divisions in the department, for instance in criminal investigations, human resources and the traffic corps. (hhr)(++++)
