myGadget: Yansen Kamto: Self-driven, mobile life

The former advertising man is behind the development of student start-up communities and co-work spaces in several big cities in cooperation with local administrations, universities and private businesses.

Born in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, on Aug. 3, 1981, Yansen is the founder of KIBAR Kreasi Indonesia, which facilitates the incubation of start-ups with the utilization of IT to expand their market outreach.

KIBAR is the only IT consultant company in Google Development Group Indonesia and Yansen initiated Indonesia Google Business Group '€“ a community of business users and the only Indonesian partner for events organized by the world largest technology company.

Also a lecturer at the technology-based business program at the Bandung Institute of Technology, Yansen lives a mobile life as he travels almost every other day for work.

'€œI start my day by reading the news on my phone until I'€™m wide awake and get out of bed. My day ends with checking the updates on the phone calendar,'€ said the graduate of the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, majoring in marketing.

Using a Mac Air for work, Yansen decided to delegate all the work to be done on a laptop to his
subordinates.

'€œThat way they can also learn how to make work concepts and to create a presentation.'€

Social media app

I use only Whatsapp to chat. I'€™m on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Google+ but my presence there is not so much.

My phone has a camera of good quality that can support video calls and my other leisure activity, which is posting pictures on Instagram. Even though I don'€™t take good pictures, especially food pictures, the color quality and editing tools are a big help.

Mobile apps

I use Google Calendar to keep track of my itinerary, and the team'€™s as well. The team always knows where I'€™ll be and can update my itinerary for appointments or meetings. For video calls I use Hangouts because it enables me to have a conversation with more than two people or a group for free.

I subscribed to many news portals and save the articles to be read later in Google Pocket. The application comes in handy when I'€™m on a flight because the articles can be read offline.

Another mobile application on my phone is Google Keep. It is useful when I want to take notes or jot down ideas with bullet points, graphics and pictures. Now, who needs a laptop?

Motorola X

I bought the Android phone while in the US. This type of phone is not for sale here. I chose the phone because it'€™s integrated with Google services and applications that relate to work.

My phone is my life. I use it mostly for work and a bit of entertainment, like watching movies. I don'€™t have any games on my phone because I don'€™t play any. And I don'€™t have a song list, either.

I subscribe 5 gigabytes of data service per month and always try not to exceed the limit. However, as there are blind areas in Internet connection, I'€™m often out of range.

I recently bought a Xiaomi power bank with a capacity of 16,000 mA through an online shop. Once it'€™s fully charged it can recharge the phone four times. It'€™s a bit bulky, but I don'€™t mind because it serves the purpose. I don'€™t need to take along a phone charger anymore.
