Ahok opens Lenggang Jakarta

J

akarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama officially opened the Lenggang Jakarta food court and souvenir center located in the National Monument (Monas) IRTI parking lot in Central Jakarta on Friday.

Lenggang Jakarta is part of the city's attempt to manage street vendors selling in the Monas area. It houses 339 vendors of beverages, clothing and various souvenirs. Transactions in Lenggang Jakarta are non-cash and each kiosk is equipped with an electronic data capture (EDC) device.

Ahok said that all food vendors in the food court had gone through sanitation and cooking training.

He added that the foods have been tested by the Jakarta office of the Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency (BPOM) to guarantee their quality.

"We hope to manage all street vendors with a similar system in the future," Ahok said. (++++)
