ncumbent Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini will likely be reelected in December, according to a survey that has found her electability to be very high.
A recent survey conducted by the Center for Political and Religious Research (Puspolitika), the results of which were released in Surabaya on Monday, found that six months ahead of the simultaneous local elections scheduled for Dec. 9, 2015, Risma's popularity reached 93 percent while her electability was 43 percent.
The popularity of actress and National Awakening Party (PKB) senior member Arzeti Bilbina reached only 42 percent and her electability was only five percent.
The survey conducted on May 18-23, 2015, with 100 respondents of various professional, religious and social backgrounds, cited only a small chance of Risma's rivals winning the mayoral election.
'This survey gives a temporary picture of the political chance of candidates who will contest the election,' Puspolitika executive director Muhammad Jacky said as quoted by kompas.com.
The secretary-general of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Hasto Kristyanto said recently that his party would likely nominate Risma to seek reelection in the simultaneous local elections.
Besides Arzeti, several other figures, including Sukoto, Wisnu Sakti Buana and Dhimam Abror, have been nominated to compete against Risma in the elections. (rms)(+++)
