he South Jakarta District Court is scheduled to hear the pretrial petition case filed by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan.
'The court's agenda tomorrow [Monday] is to hear the pretrial petition. The petition has been registered with the court,' said Mudji Kartika Rahayu, a lawyer representing Novel, on Sunday night.
Mudji said the hearing was scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Monday.
'Novel will attend the court hearing,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
He said his client had a number of reasons for filing the pretrial petition, including those used by the police to arrest him and name him a suspect.
The police previously arrested and named Novel a suspect in the torture of a police suspect identified as Mulya Johani, alias Aan, in Bengkulu when Novel was the lead investigator in the province in 2004.
'Later, the reason used by the police for Novel's arrest is other chapter of the Criminal Code,' said Asfinawati, another lawyer on Novel's legal team. (rms)
