ational flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will increase seat availability to anticipate a spike in passengers during this year's Idul Fitri holiday, a senior official has said.
Garuda Indonesia's corporate communications vice president, Pujobroto, said 1.61 million plane seats would be available for homebound and returning travelers from July 9 to 27, or eight days before Idul Fitri and 10 days after.
'Seat availability will be 8 percent higher than in the same period of 2014, which reached 1.49 million seats,' he said as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Pujobroto said several domestic and international routes that experienced significant increases in demand would see an additional 16,044 seats. This includes routes from Jakarta to Denpasar, Hong Kong, Padang, Perth, Singapore, Surabaya, Sydney and Yogyakarta.
'The increase in capacity for those routes will be carried out through two ways, namely by using bigger aircraft and by scheduling additional flights,' said Pujobroto. (ebf)(++++)
