he rupiah interbank trade rate in Wednesday's first trading session strenghtened by 44 basis points to Rp 13,198 per dollar from Rp 13,220 per dollar in the previous trade.
The head of the research unit of Monex Investinto Futures, Ariston Tjendra, said that despite the strengthening, its movement was limited due to worries about the Greek debt problem and the fall in the yields of German bonds.
"This situation causes the dollar to be more attractive in global markets, including in the domestic one," Ariston said as quoted by Antara news agency.
The head of the research unit of NH Korindo Securities Indonesia, Reza Priyambada, said the rupiah strengthening against dollar tended to be susceptible to a reversal as US Federal Reserve actions would continue to affect the rupiah rate in the future.
"The external sentiment will haunt the rupiah rate, while the positive sentiment from the domestic market in relation to the granting of an outlook performance in Indonesia's debt by Standard & Poor's is projected to support the rupiah in the short term," he added. (hhr) (++++)
