Minister Susi wants RI no longer considered an agricultural country

M

aritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti wants the world to change its perception of Indonesia as being an agricultural country to a maritime one.

"Today I want to remind that the government's mission is to build a stronger maritime country. So far we are considered more as an agricultural country," said Susi during an event attended by envoys from Asia, Africa, Europe and South America on Thursday

Indonesia, she said, needed to learn about maritime affairs from neighboring countries like Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand.

The countries' exports of fishery commodities are higher than Indonesia'€™s, whereas their waters are not as vast, said Susi as quoted by Antara news agency.(+++)
