nvoys from 25 Asian, Pacific, African, South American and European countries visited West Sumatra on Friday to seek investment opportunities in the geothermal and tourism sectors.
West Sumatra administration spokesman Irwan said on Friday that the diplomatic tour was a rare event and a great opportunity to promote the region and explain all aspects of investment.
"While the focus will be on geothermal and tourism potencies, other sectors like fisheries are also open for assessment," Irwan said in Padang as quoted by Antara news agency.
The visit, dubbed Diplomatic Tour West Sumatra, included 17 ambassadors from Laos, Peru, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Sudan, Libya, Finland, Croatia, Hungary, Fiji, Iraq, Mexico, Switzerland, South Korea, Jordan, the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
Eight representatives of Laos, Venezuela, Surinam, Yemen, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Laos and the Asian Parliament Association also participated.
The tour covered Pasaman, Tanahdatar, Padang, Mandeh tourist resort and South Pesisir regency.(++++)
