M

aritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti has held a meeting with several ambassadors from European Union, Asian and South American countries.

'€œI want to explain to them about the government'€™s mission to transform Indonesia into a stronger maritime state as it has so far only been known as an agricultural country,'€ Susi said as quoted by Antara news agency on Thursday.

Ambassadors from Vietnam, Peru, Norway, Germany, Poland, South Africa and Hungary, among others, attended the meeting.

In her speech, Susi said that President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo was eager to reclaim Indonesia'€™s heritage as a maritime state.

Susi said sustainability was the key to developing Indonesia as a maritime state. '€œSustainability is important because growth is not only for the present generation but also for future generations,'€ Susi said, adding that development of the maritime sector had been relatively neglected so far.
