he administration is set to hold the annual Jakarnaval on June 7 to commemorate the city's 488th anniversary.
Tourism and Culture Agency head Purba Hutapea said the festival would boast 22 decorated floats designed by the city's working units, government institutions and state-owned enterprises, as well as performances from 488 artists.
He said performances would begin at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta at noon, followed by the carnival, which would be officially opened by Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama at 3:30 p.m.
The carnival route, Purba went on, would start from the eastern part of Monas park, to Jl. Medan Merdeka Utara, Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat and Jl. Thamrin, to the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle. The Transportation Agency and the Traffic Police will deploy officers to divert the traffic.
