An investigation team from the National Police is to question on Monday former finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati as a witness in a graft case relating to the direct selling of crude oil condensate to PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (PT TPPI), with the questioning to take place at the Finance Ministry.
'To ensure the questioning and because the data in the case is at the ministry, there is no problem with the questioning being conducted there,' director of economic crimes at the police's Detective Corps Brig. Gen. Victor Edison Simanjuntak said on Monday.
He said police investigators had departed to the ministry to conduct the questioning.
Victor said that according to the schedule, Sri Mulyani would be questioned on Wednesday but she had to return to the US on Tuesday, so the questioning was conducted on Monday.
'She says she is ready for questioning today. A telephone call from the ministry informed us that she is in the city and will go back to the US on Tuesday,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Sri will be questioned as a witness in the selling of crude oil condensate to PT TPPI, which involved the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKKMigas) and the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
'The police want to question her because of her agreement of the payment scheme being included in the work contract,' said Victor.
He said that the police had found irregularities in the deal, including the direct appointment by SKK Migas of PT TPPI to sell the condensate and the selling by PT TPPI of the condensate to companies other than state-run Pertamina. (rms)
