O

fficers from the West Tanjung Jabung Animal Husbandry Agency have shot dead a stray dog that had bitten 11 people in recent days.

Agency head Hamzah said the dog, which had been roaming Kualatungkal city for three days, was spotted on Monday by the officers, who shot it with an air rifle after noticing that it matched descriptions of the biting dog.

Last week, the agency reported that of the 11 dog-attack victims, three were children and the rest teenagers and adults.

The officers took the carcass for analysis at the Jambi Livestock Agency'€™s laboratory.

'€œWe are still waiting for the results of the lab test,'€ Hamzah said.

He added that his office conducted sterilizations of pet dogs annually to prevent the spread of feral dogs.
