The head of Sanglah General Hospital'€™s forensic medicine department, Dudut Rustyadi, said no signs of sexual violence had been found on the body of Angeline, an 8-year-old girl who was found dead and buried in the backyard of her family'€™s house in Denpasar, Bali.

'€œThere was no [signs of sexual violence]. None whatsoever,'€ he said as quoted by Antara after a preliminary reenactment of the crime in the house of Angeline'€™s adoptive mother, Margareith Megawe, on Jl. Sedap Malam, Denpasar, on Thursday.

Dudut said Angeline'€™s body was in a state of decomposition when it was examined as she had died more than seven days before her dead body was found on Wednesday, or almost three weeks after she was reported missing on May 16.

Earlier, the hospital'€™s forensic medicine team said it had found signs of physical violence using blunt objects on several parts of the victim'€™s body, such as face, head, hands and legs. The doctors also found strangulation marks on her neck.

Denpasar Police chief Sr.Comr.Anak Agung Made Sudana claimed earlier that Angeline had suffered not only physical abuse but also sexual violence. This was based on a police statement by Agus, 25, a former domestic helper at the family home who the police have named a suspect.

Sudana said neither Angeline'€™s adoptive mother nor her stepsister had been involved in her murder.

Earlier, Angeline'€™s family filed a missing persons report with the police, saying that the girl went missing in front on her house on Jl.Sedap Malam, Denpasar, at around 3 p.m. local time on May 16.

After a three-week investigation, the police with support from local communities found the body of the student of SD Negeri 12 Kesiman state elementary school in Sanur, Denpasar, buried in the backyard of the family home.

Angeline'€™s body was found facedown holding a doll buried less than two meters under the ground. Her body was covered with a white bed cover. (ebf) (+++)
