he Indonesian soccer team's tragic defeats at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games are result of match fixing, or so a tape recording apparently reveals.
The Jakarta Legal Aid Foundation (LBH Jakarta) is scheduled to reveal evidence related to the match-fixing allegations on Tuesday afternoon.
'We will reveal the tape recording between a match fixer and a bookie,' LBH Jakarta division head M. Isnur said as quoted by Tempo.
The recording, Isnur said, reveals that the match between Indonesia's soccer team with Thailand on Saturday, which resulted in a big loss of 0-5 for Indonesia, was a result of match fixing. The match fixers also played a role in determining Indonesia's defeat in Monday's match with Vietnam, Isnur added. Indonesia lost 0-5 against Vietnam.
There has been no clarification from the Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI) about the match fixing allegation.
The scandal comes in the midst of a crisis faced by Indonesian soccer following sanctions from FIFA.
Earlier, FIFA suspended Indonesia from competing in international soccer matches after the government government dissolved the PSSI. (ika) (+++++)
