n inmate at the narcotics prison on Nusakambangan Island, Slamet Gonggo, 40, died at the Cilacap General Hospital in Central Java after being involved in a fight with a cell mate four days ago.
Slamet was stabbed repeatedly when fighting with Daeng, 51, of Janeponto regency, South Sulawesi.
Central Java Justice and Human Rights Office's correctional institutions division head A. Yuspahruddin confirmed the incident. He said Slamet's body had been returned to his family in Rejowinangun, Magelang district, Magelang city, Central Java. He added that the case was being investigated by the police. 'We have yet to learn the motive behind the fight, but it could have been a personal matter,' Yuspahruddin told the media on Tuesday.
He said Slamet had been sentenced to five years on a drug charge and would have been released in October, while Daeng had served 10 of his 12-year sentence for murder.
