Minister to evaluate RI'€™s achievement in SEA Games

Y

outh and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi said the government would thoroughly evaluate all sports stakeholders over Indonesia'€™s unsatisfactory achievement at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.

The minister said he would summon stakeholders, comprising the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI), the Indonesian Sports Council (KONI), and the Indonesia Gold Program (Prima), as well as officials of Indonesian sports associations.

'€œAs soon as possible, I will ask for reports from the Indonesian contingent head, Taufik Hidayat, about the overall result achieved at the SEA Games in Singapore. From there, we can carry out a thorough evaluation,'€ Imam said as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Indonesia ranked fifth in the 2015 SEA Games, bring home 182 medals, comprising 47 gold medals, 61 silver and 74 bronze.

'€œI still want to say thank you and I'€™m proud of how the Indonesian athletes struggled in the SEA Games in Singapore this year. This result is painful; however, we should not blame each other for this result. We still have to be enthusiastic in carrying out improvements,'€ said Imam.

The regional multi-sports event officially closed with a ceremony held at the Singapore National Stadium on Wednesday evening. (ebf)(+++)
