he National Police has deployed its latest technology to help the local police uncover the killers of 8-year-old Engeline, whose body was found in the backyard of her house in Bali.
'That [technology] is for revealing the identity [of the killers] from their fingerprints,' the National Police Fingerprints Identification System Center head Brig. Gen. Bekti Suhartono said on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
The technology is called Mambis, which has the ability to uncover people's identities only with a touch of their fingers. Bekti said that Mambis was connected to a national database storing all information of Indonesian citizens written on their mobile electronic identity cards
In Engeline's case, the police are also using a lie detector to ensure that all information given by witnesses is based on the truth.
'We want to help to speed up the investigation process,' Bekti said.
Bekti added that his team was still investigating the crime scene at the residence of Engeline's adoptive mother, Margriet, to collect more evidence. (ika)(+++)
