he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed on Saturday that the arrest of two Musi Banyuasin councilors and two local administration officials was related to the ongoing revision of the South Sumatran regency's 2015 budget.
'For the moment, it looks as if bribes of Rp 2.56 billion paid by an agency head to councilors were related to revision of the regency's 2015 draft budget,' Deputy KPK Chairman Johan Budi said as quoted by kompas.com.
The commission has named four suspects in the graft case: Bambang Karyanto, an Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) legislator; Adam Munandar of the Gerindra Party; Musi Banyuasin Finance and Asset Management Agency head Syamsudin Fei; and Regional Planning and Development Board chief Faisyar.
The two officials were caught red-handed paying the bribes to the two councilors at Bambang's residence on Jl. San Jaya in Palembang on Friday night.
Johan added that the commission suspected the incident was the second instance of bribery in the case, the first reportedly having been conducted in January this year.
The four suspects have been placed in the commission's detention house in Kuningan, South Jakarta. (rms)
