he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested on Friday night several legislators and local government officials allegedly involved in a corruption case in Musi Banyuasin regency, South Sumatra.
'Some are from the regional legislative council (DPRD) and two others are from the South Sumatra administration,' a source told tempo.co.
These people are allegedly involved in a corruption case related to the approval of the local government's revenue and expenditure budget and its accountability report.
The KPK is still investigating the crime scene and will bring the detainees to the KPK building in Jakarta.
The KPK is scheduled to hold a press conference this afternoon to give details on the case.
This arrests came after President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo restated his stance supporting the KPK against the House of Representatives' plan to revise the 2002 KPK Law, amendments that were aimed at curtailing the commission's power. (ika)
