aruda Indonesia officially began its new Jambi-Palembang route on Friday, responding to increased demand for a flight service connecting the two cities, a company official has said.
The sales and service manager of Garuda's Jambi branch office, Arsena Permasadhie, said the national flag carrier was offering a daily Jambi-Palembang service using an ATR 72 twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a capacity of 70 passenger seats.
'The Jambi-Palembang flight takes less than an hour, so passengers, especially businesspeople, will waste less time,' said Arsena on Sunday.
Many large companies based in Palembang, South Sumatra, have branch offices in Jambi, requiring employees to make frequent trips between the two cities.
'With Garuda's Jambi-Palembang new flight route, they can travel by air, which is much more efficient than by land,' said Arsena. (ebf)(++++)
