he West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial administration has said that the number of beef cattle in the province, which currently stands at 129,000 head, is considered sufficient to meet the local demand amounting to between 60,000 and 65,000 head annually.
'Our beef cattle stock is secure. This year we will be able to distribute around 34,000 head of beef cattle to meet the beef demand in Jakarta and other provinces in Sumatra and Kalimantan, including that for this year's Ramadhan fasting month,' the province's Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Agency head Budi Septiani said.
According to Septiani, the population of cattle in NTB, as of last month, had reached 1.13 million, with most of them found on Lombok and Sumbawa islands.
