KPK slaps travel ban on 5 Musi Banyuasin officials

T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has imposed travel bans on three officials of Musi Banyuasin regency administration and two Musi Banyuasin Legislative Council (DPRD) members over their alleged involvements in a corruption case surrounding the deliberation of the 2015 regional administration budget plan (RAPBD).

'€œWe have received the decrees on the travel bans,'€ said Yan Welly Wiguna, the head of the public relations sub-division at the Law and Human Rights Ministry'€™s immigration directorate, as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The three local officials are Musi Banyuasin regent Pahri Azhari; revenue, financial management and local assets agency head Syamsuddin Fei; and Musi Banyuasin development planning board member Faisyar. Meanwhile, the two DPRD Musi Banyuasing members are Bambang Karyanto from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and Adam Munandar of the Gerindra Party.

The KPK has named Syamsuddin, Faisyar, Bambang and Adam as suspects after the antigraft body investigators allegedly caught them red-handed giving out bribes at Bambang'€™s house in Musi Banyuasin on Friday evening.

During the raid, KPK investigators confiscated Rp 2.56 billion (US$192,000) in bribe money for lawmakers Syamsuddin and Faisyar. This was the second instance, as it was previously said that they had received around Rp 2-3 billion in bribes related to the RAPBD deliberation. The total amount of bribes given to the DPRD members is around Rp 17 billion. (ebf)(+++)
