S

tate-owned oil and gas company Pertamina will launch Pertalite, a Research octane Number (RON) 90 fuel that could gradually replace consumption of RON 88 Premium, after Idul Fitri in July with a price tag of Rp 8,500 (64 cents) per liter.

The company'€™s marketing director, Ahmad Bambang, said that Pertamina is ready to book losses for selling Pertalite because the losses will not be as big as from selling Premium.

'€œThe important thing is that we will not have as big a loss as from selling Premium fuel,'€ Ahmad told House of Representatives'€™ Commission VII members on Wednesday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He added that in the first phase Pertamina will distribute 1,000 kiloliters of Pertalite per day to Jakarta, Surabaya and Bandung.

'€œWe will distribute 1,000 kiloliters first and it could be increased in the future,'€ he said.
