he Bekasi Manpower Agency will apply stricter requirements for letters of recommendation for people coming to the city after Idul Fitri to seek work.
The agency's manpower placement unit head, Sajekti Rubiah, said on Tuesday that her office would not issue letters off recommendation to newcomers who did not have Bekasi identity cards.
'We will only issue letters for Bekasi residents or those who have a declaration of domicile from subdistrict offices in Bekasi,' she said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
She said the policy was aimed at anticipating an increase in Bekasi's population as a result of an influx of rural people that usually happens after the Ramadhan holiday and at giving job assurance to residents. Sajekti predicted that her office would see 200 to 300 job applicants after Idul Fitri.
The Bekasi administration has absorbed 36,000 workers from the forecasted 50,000 workers expected to join the workforce within the next five years.
