The Bali Police are scheduled on Monday to question Margriet Megawe, 60, the main suspect in the killing of her adopted daughter Engeline Margret Megawe, 8, in search for a motive behind the girl's murder.
Bali Police chief Insp. Gen. Ronny F Sompie confirmed that Margriet had been named as the main suspect in the murder case on Sunday.
The decision to name her the main suspect was taken based on an investigation carried out by the police, he said.
In order to search for a motive for the murder, the police will question Margriet again on Monday and Tuesday, he said.
As was reported earlier, witnesses such as one Franky A Marinka claimed Margriet frequently abused Engeline.
On June 22, Franky claimed to know about 10 violent acts commited against Engeline at her home in Denpasar, Bali.
A reenactment organized by police and performed by Franky at Margriet's house alleged that Margriet frequently dragged Engeline and beat her using a one-meter broom in March.
"It happened about two weeks before I went back to Kalimantan," said Franky who lived in Margriet's house for three months. (hhr)
