olice have claimed to have a new suspect in the murder case of 8-year-old Engeline Margriet Megawe, but are still collecting evidence to complete the investigation, an official said.
'Our investigation is working on [a new suspect]. We will announce more later,' Bali Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Hery Wiyanto was quoted by tempo.co as saying on Saturday.
Hery said the police had recently collected new evidence from the house of Engeline's adoptive mother, Margriet Christina Megawe, including some blood-stained goods and a mobile phone belonging to murder suspect Agustay 'Agus' Hamda May.
So far, Agus is the only suspect in the murder case, which saw Engeline's body found buried in the backyard of her home on Jl. Sedap Malam, Denpasar, on June 10, a month after the girl was reported missing. Last week, Agus denied having killed Engeline, saying that he was just ordered by Margriet to bury her body.
