Dozens of Jakarta residents gathered at City Hall on Monday to give Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama greetings for his birthday, which falls on June 29.
The residents were part of the Support Ahok for Governor (Dukung Ahok Gubernur) movement. They lined up in front of Ahok's office and waited for him to arrive, bringing flowers, tumpeng (cone-shaped yellow rice) and cake.
They sang 'Happy Birthday' for the governor, wished him good health and asked him to continue his policies in Jakarta.
Ahok thanked the residents and clapped along.
"During my birthday, I always remember two things. First, I am thankful that God has given me another year [...] second, I recall my mother's sacrifice for having given birth to me and raised me," Ahok told the residents. (dmr)
