lawmaker from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) says that no minister should insult the President or criticize him outside of a presidential meeting because a minister must be loyal to his or her president no matter what.
PDI-P lawmaker Masinton Pasaribu commented on reports that one of President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's ministers had reportedly insulted him and his performance, saying that those comments were made because the minister in question was nervous about the prospect of a Cabinet reshuffle.
'If ministers want to criticize the President, they should do so during a face to face meeting with him. As ministers, they have to be loyal to the President's word because they are technically working for him. The consequence of not doing so is probably to be replaced,' Masinton said on Monday.
Regarding the identity of the minister in question, he said he does not want to reveal it for fear of being sued for defamation. However, he insisted that the minister is not a member of the PDI-P, nor any of the supporting political parties, and that it is a minister who works in the economic sector. (dmr)(++++)
