he Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Jambi says the number of fire spots in the province has continued to increase because of the hot weather of the last several days.
BMKG Jambi's weather analyst, Bahar Abdullah, said as many as 71 fire spots had been detected in six out of 11 regencies and municipalities in Jambi. In the last three days, the temperature in Jambi was recorded to have reached 34 degrees Celsius in the daytime as the peak of the dry season was approaching.
'There has been quite a drastic increase in temperature in Jambi,' Bahar said.
However, he said it was unlikely that Jambi would be affected by heat waves because there had been no atmosphere dynamics that could cause air flows that could trigger them.
According to BMKG Jambi data, he said, 33 out of a total of 71 fire spots that had been detected were in Tebo regency. Twenty fire spots were found in East Tanjungjabung regency, while Muarojambi regency had 15 fire spots. Three regencies, namely Batanghari, Sarolangun, and West Tanjungjabung, reported one fire spot each.
'Such a high number of fire spots shows that land burning activities have occurred again,' said Bahar. (ebf)(++++)
