alaysia-based budget airline AirAsia Indonesia announced on Monday that it would provide extra flights serving various domestic and international routes during this year's Idul Fitri holiday period from July 9 to 28.
'The extra flights are aimed at accommodating the increase in demand for flights during the Idul Fitri holiday season,' AirAsia Indonesia's marketing director Andy Adrian Febryanto said as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta on Monday.
He said as many as 90 extra flights, or 16,200 seats, would be provided for several routes. These included Jakarta-Bali, Bandung-Bali, Surakarta-Bali, Bandung-Pekanbaru, Jakarta-Yogyakarta and Medan-Penang and vice versa.
Andy went on to say that AirAsia customers from Jakarta who wished to travel to several domestic destinations could use its e-boarding pass facilities to avoid long queues at check-in counters.
'They just need to download the AirAsia mobile application and then check in from their mobile phones, on which they will get an 'e-boarding pass',' he said, adding that all AirAsia customers could buy tickets for those extra flights starting from Monday.
The company operates 32 routes, 21 of which are international.
