Google Now Cards for Ramadhan released in Indonesia

G

oogle released on Tuesday a special Ramadhan edition in its Google Now Cards application in Indonesia, the world'€™s biggest Muslim-majority country.

Google Now Cards is an application that provides automatic updates or reminders in the forms of cards to users. The app is part of Google Now, which is an intelligent personal assistant developed by Google to compete with Siri. Google Now can answer questions, provide daily updates and information as well as make recommendations.

Google Indonesia marketing head Veronica Utami said that Google chose Indonesia as the place to launch the product because the country had the biggest Muslim community in the world.

'€œThe Ramadhan-related content in Now Cards is the first and will always be in Indonesia,'€ she said as quoted by Kompas.com on Tuesday.

Veronica added that Google Indonesia had teamed up with local developers for the contents. The contents available include hijab tutorials, music video clips and cooking demos for pre-dawn and breaking-the-fast meals.

Veronica said the contents for Google Now Cards Ramadhan would be divided into three big themes: planning, food and entertainment.

With the launch of the Ramadhan edition, Veronica said that Google planned to create another edition that would be closely related to Indonesian users, like the commemoration of Indonesia'€™s Independence Day in August.

The Google Now Cards application can be accessed from Google Now, which is available in Android. (ika)(+++)
