Greater Jakarta: Jakarta to run anti-radicalization program

T

he city administration is to hold an anti-radicalization dissemination program, targeting senior high school students.

Jakarta National and Political Unity Office (Kesbangpol) head Ratiyono said on Tuesday that the program would be run in six schools in the city '€” state-run high schools SMA 108, SMA 86, SMA 47, SMA 29, SMA 46 and SMA 32, all in South Jakarta.

'€œThe program aims to give the students enough knowledge to understand their surroundings, so that they will not be easily enticed by radical movements,'€ he said as quoted as by beritajakarta.com, adding that speakers at the program would be former members of radical movements.

Ratiyono said the program was also expected to reduce the number of social conflicts, including student brawls.

'€œWe hope students and teachers will be more cautious and will work together to fight radicalism at school,'€ he said.
