Greater Jakarta: Residents complain about mounting garbage

R

esidents of Sukamaju Baru subdistrict in Depok, West Java, have complained about garbage scattered along the banks of the Kali Baru River, which is located behind the office of the Depok City Sanitation and Parks Agency.

David, one of the residents, said on Monday that the garbage had piled up for a month reaching 3 meters in height in some places.

'€œThe waste has started falling into the river that flows to Jakarta. That can trigger flooding in the capital city,'€ he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Separately, the agency secretary Oka Barmarah promised to solve the problem by coordinating with the Bina Marga (Road) and Water Resources Agency.
