Samuel Sekuritas economist Rangga Cipta said that the rupiah moved downward in a limited range, showing impacts of the Greek debt crisis, which were not too severe against currencies in developing countries.
"Greece finally failed to repay its debts even though there are still negotiation efforts for a bailout. The negotiations will be held after the country's referendum on July 5, 2015," he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
Bank Himpunan Saudara foreign exchange market observer Rully Nova said the rupiah could move back to the positive area if data on the manufacturing index, monthly inflation rate and number of tourist visits was positive.
"Investors expect positive signals from the domestic economic fundamentals. It also expected that the government's efforts in maintaining the domestic economy could be effective, thereby curbing any possible inflation surge," he added. (hhr)(++++)
