ndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) deputy secretary-general or Ahmad Basarah said on Thursday that party chairwoman Megawati Soekarno would have the final say on who will be in the reshuffled Cabinet.
'If a reshuffle happens anytime soon, the choices for the PDI-P ministerial candidates will be in the hands of chairwoman Megawati. I believe she already knows the names, but even if I knew them, it would not be within my authority to disclose them to the public,' Ahmad told reporters at the House of Representatives complex.
Ahmad previously said the PDI-P should be given more ministerial positions in the reshuffled Cabinet because of its position as the majority party in the House.
'Right now, the PDI-P has four seats in the Cabinet, which for me is the minimum amount. There should be more, not fewer,' said Ahmad, who is on House Commission III overseeing legal affairs.
Ahmad added that he did not know when President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, who is affiliated with the PDI-P, would announce a reshuffle.
However, fellow PDI-P lawmaker Pramono Anung stated that the views expressed by Ahmad did not represent the party and he had heard 'no such requests' for a specific number of PDI-P affiliated ministers in the reshuffled Cabinet. (ika)(++++)
