he Bogor Population and Civil Registration Agency has been forced to halt the issuing of new electronic identity cards (e-KTP) as the blank cards are out of stock.
Agency head Agus Suparman said on Thursday that his staff would continue to accept applications for new e-KTPs.
He said that new applicants would be given a letter to act as a temporary ID card until the purchase of more blank cards by the Home Ministry was completed.
'We have asked the Home Ministry. It said that the procurement of the cards was still in the bidding process,' he said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He added that the ministry had not given any details regarding when the bidding process would be finished.
'We will announce right away when the cards are available again,' he said.
Agus said the temporary ID letters would be valid for administrative purposes just like regular e-KTPs.
The same issue also played out in Bogor regency. Bogor has only 40,000 blank cards while the number of applications in process is up to 50,000 people.
